Yes — all Expandify homes are classified as permanent dwellings and are certified as Class 1a buildings under the National Construction Code (NCC).
Class 1a status means your home is:
- Recognised as a habitable, permanent structure (not temporary or transportable)
- Eligible for standard council approvals such as CDC or DA
- Compliant with the same requirements as conventional houses in terms of energy efficiency, site compliance, and engineering
This classification ensures that Expandify homes can be used for long-term residential purposes, including primary dwellings, secondary dwellings (granny flats), investment rentals, or short-term accommodation (subject to council approval).
Expandify homes are not built as relocatable or mobile dwellings and are designed to remain fixed once installed on-site.
