Expandify homes use a PU sandwich panel steel-clad wall system, which is certified to meet BAL 12.5 compliance. This rating is suitable for areas with low risk of ember attack under the Australian Standard AS 3959:2018 Construction of buildings in bushfire-prone areas.

The standard wall system includes:

  • 0.5mm thick pre-painted steel external cladding
  • 15mm Polyurethane (PUR) foam insulation core
  • 0.4mm galvanised steel internal lining

BAL 12.5 compliance is achieved through a non-combustible exterior, metal frame construction, and enclosed subfloor.

Important notes:

  • If a site assessment identifies a higher BAL rating (e.g. BAL 19 or higher), additional design changes or external shielding will be required.
  • BAL overlay reports are not included in the base pricing and are quoted separately when required.

This compliance ensures suitability for construction in most areas where a BAL 12.5 rating is sufficient under local bushfire overlays.
