No. Expandify homes do not require a chemical termite barrier because all structural elements are constructed from galvanised steel framing, which is naturally termite-resistant.

Key facts:

  • Steel framing is non-organic, eliminating termite risk
  • Subfloors and wall structures are fully enclosed with non-combustible steel cladding

However:

  • If your local council requires a physical or visual barrier due to surrounding timber or landscaping, you may need to install one externally
  • Always check with your certifier or council for site-specific termite management requirements

No timber framing is used in Expandify’s structure, and termite protection is considered inherent to the steel system.

What’s the clearance width required for truck delivery?

Expandify homes are delivered using low-loader trailers pulled by semi-trucks. For safe access and crane setup, your property must have:

Minimum access requirements:

  • 3.5 metres wide clearance
  • 5 metres overhead clearance (to avoid trees, powerlines, signage, etc.)
  • A level approach and parking area for crane staging

Turning space must be sufficient for trucks to enter, reverse, or turn around as required. Narrow rural roads, tight cornering, or uneven ground may require pre-inspection and alternate arrangements during Site Assessment.
