Yes — all designs must meet local council planning rules and the National Construction Code (NCC). Common limitations include:

Maximum floor area (typically 60sqm or 80sqm depending on council)

Height restrictions (usually no more than 3.8m for single-storey dwellings)

Privacy, overshadowing, and window placements

Consistency with neighbourhood character or streetscape
