Yes — Expandify offers off-grid toilet solutions that can be quoted during your Site Assessment and quoting phase.
If your site requires or prefers a non-standard, self-contained toilet system (e.g. for rural locations without sewer connections or sustainable off-grid living), we offer guidance and quoting support for a range of options. Off-grid toilets are not standard, but can be accommodated by request and installed on-site after handover.
Available off-grid toilet options include:
Composting Toilets
These break down waste using aerobic bacteria and bulking agents like sawdust or coconut coir.
• Waterless and eco-friendly
• Requires manual compost removal every few months
• Suitable for full-time or part-time occupancy
• Brands like Nature’s Head and Separett are commonly supported
Incinerating Toilets
These use electricity or gas to burn waste into sterile ash.
• No plumbing required
• Minimal waste disposal — only ash
• Requires solar, gas, or generator input
• Brands include Incinolet and Envirolet
Biogas Toilets
Waste is broken down in a sealed digester tank to create methane gas for cooking or heating.
• Complex setup — suitable for farms or large rural sites
• Must be maintained and monitored
• Produces usable biogas, making it a sustainable system
Bucket Toilets
A basic, low-cost solution using sawdust or peat moss to cover waste in a lined bucket.
• Easy to manage for short-term or ultra-remote setups
• Requires manual disposal and composting knowledge
Self-contained Portable Toilets
Often used in RVs and cabins, these include a flush system and a sealed waste tank.
• Chemically treated tanks or dry separation models
• Must be emptied regularly at appropriate facilities
• Brands like Thetford Porta Potti are supported
How off-grid toilets are quoted:
Off-grid toilet options are not included in the standard fit-out.
If you request one, it will be quoted during the Site Assessment and finalised during the quoting phase.
You can choose to supply your own approved toilet system, or we can quote one based on your site’s energy and waste requirements.
In most cases, the toilet will be installed on-site in Australia after handover, depending on plumbing and ventilation access.
Important to know:
Off-grid systems require space for access, airflow, or venting — not all systems suit every block.
Our installation team must review the model type to confirm compatibility.
Council approval and compliance for non-standard waste systems is still required — we assist in ensuring documentation is supplied as needed.
We recommend speaking to your consultant early in the quoting phase if you're considering an off-grid toilet. That way we can ensure the design, council pathway, and installation plan all align with your preferences.
