Possibly — this is determined by council regulations during the CDC or DA approval process.
As a general rule, a fire-rated wall may be required if your Expandify home is positioned within 900mm of a boundary or another structure on the same lot. This requirement varies depending on your local council, zoning overlays, and how close the home is to adjacent dwellings or lot boundaries.
If a fire-rated wall is required, it will be identified during your Site Assessment and included in your Prelim findings. The builder or certifier will then include this specification during the approval process.
Expandify homes are designed to meet standard BAL 12.5 bushfire compliance, but enhanced fire resistance (such as FRL-rated walls) is an additional compliance item assessed on a case-by-case basis.
